Hardwick Trails

NATURE WALKS

nature-experiences-header

All year round, a range of opportunities present themselves to curious explorers of all ages on the Trails. Some activities are organized and some are informal.

The Trails are an expanse of varying forest environments, home to a huge variety of flora and fauna, from the everyday such as deer to the more elusive – visitors have caught glimpses of moose, fisher, fox, bear and bobcat.
This resource is here for everyone in the greater Hardwick area to share and enjoy – and learn from!

We have walks focusing on birding, flora and fauna. The Green Mountain Technology and Career Center uses a part of our forest to educate kids about forestry. GMTCC has a working sugar operation.
There’s plenty to see and do to take advantage of the land, here. You might even find some hidden surprises – like the circa-1900 ruins of a house’s foundation where patients with smallpox were quarantined, right on the shore of Hardwick Lake. That’s a great spot for a summer picnic. So come explore!
