ABOUT
The Hardwick Trails Committee began construction of the Trails (with the help of the Hazen Forestry students) in 2003 with grants from the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. The Trails are a system of 6 miles of hiking trails and 5 miles of single track biking trails, winding through mixed woodland habitats.
Hazen Union School, the Town of Hardwick, the Hardwick Electric Department and Nancy Shepard and Al Cockrell have all generously given permission for us to create this network on their lands.
Community volunteers and donors provide the muscle and means to care for this recreation jewel that is groomed for winter skiing and mowed for summer use.
In 2009, the Hardwick Trails received a Community Enhancement Award from the Vermont Trails & Greenways Council.
Notice the works of local poets, both student and adult, posted along the Green Trail. Plant and bird lists and Trails maps are available at the Trailhead. Try out the fitness equipment located on the Marlene Clark Fitness Loop.
Community events occur throughout the year.
