May Bird Walks
It’s Spring, at last! That means the Every-Saturday-in-May Bird Walks on the
Hardwick Trails. Local birders extraordinaire help birders, young and not-as-
young, hear and see who’s on the wing in our woods.
Dave Brown of Craftsbury leads the first walk, May 4 at 7:00 AM. Dave’s expertise
and good humor make his walks a fun adventure. Meet at the Trails kiosk, behind
the Hazen Union parking lot.
As of June 2023, birders had identified 86 species on the Trails. How many will we
find? Who will find a new one? Only one way to know. See you on May 4!
The Hardwick Trails Committee sponsors these free events. Questions? Call
Norma Wiesen at 802-472-6517.
Lamoille Valley Rail Trail
The LVRT is quickly recovering from the devastating flood of 7/11. The trail is open from Hardwick westward. The bridges east of Hardwick are in the process of being repaired and hopefully open soon. Hardwick Trails connect to the LVRT off the Marlene Clark Fitness trail (Purple trail).
