the land
The land is an expanse of varying forest environments. It’s home to a huge variety of flora and fauna, from the everyday such as deer to the more elusive – visitors have caught glimpses of moose, fishers, foxes, bears and bobcats. Over seventy–five species of birds.
This resource is here for everyone in the greater Hardwick area to share and enjoy – and learn from! We have walks focusing on birding, flora and fauna, and the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center uses a part of our forest to educate kids about forestry, including a working sugaring operation.
There’s plenty to see and do to take advantage of the land, here. You might even find some hidden surprises – like the circa-1900 ruins ot the house’s foundation where patients with smallpox were quarantined, right on the shore of the Hardwick Lake. That’s a great sport for a summer picnic. So come explore!
