They’re here! Birds, birds, birds! Come with Lucian Avery on Saturday, May 10 at 7:00am to the
Hardwick Trails kiosk behind the Hazen Union parking lot to see and hear them.
With migration in full swing and the leaves still tiny on the trees, it’s the perfect moment to go
birding. Lucian brings his well-known expertise about–and clear delight in–the natural world to
help! Last Saturday, at the first May Bird Walk, we found 21 species. Maybe even more winged
ones will be in the woodlands now.
All ages and skill levels are welcome. The Hardwick Trails Committee happily sponsors this free
event. Questions? Call Norma Wiesen – 802-472-6517.

Is that a Wood Thrush? Or a Yellow Warbler? Or a Veery? Come and see.
The Every-Saturday-in-May Bird Walks on the Hardwick Trails begin May 3. This tradition of
enjoying the spring bird migration in our local woodlands is for seasoned birders and birder
wannabes of all ages. This year, leaders include Dave Brown, Eleanor Hammond, Scarlett
Podolin, Lucian Avery and Marie LaPre Grabon. Their enthusiasm is catching; the bird song,
heavenly; the birds, every color. Maybe we’ll find a new bird to add to our list of 88 species!
Come join a walk each Saturday at 7:00 AM at the Hardwick Trails kiosk, located behind Hazen
Union parking lot. These free events are sponsored by the Hardwick Trails Committee. Please
call Norma Wiesen if you have questions: 802-472-6517.

SATURDAY BIRD WALK FINALE ON THE HARDWICK TRAILS

The Every-Saturday-in-May Bird Walks on the Hardwick Trails’ finale is this Saturday (May 25) at 7:00am with Marie LaPre Grabon. Marie has truly “earned her wings” in birding and has enormous enthusiasm for helping folks hear and see these creatures. This past week has brought a crescendo of warblers to our area (along with many others), so we are in for a treat.

The highest total number of species on a single walk so far this season is 29. If you like competition, maybe you want to come and help make this final walk’s score even higher!

We meet at the Trails kiosk behind the Hazen Union parking lot.

The Hardwick Trails Committee sponsors these free events and welcomes seasoned and beginner birders of all ages. Questions? Call Norma Wiesen at 802-472-6517.
