What is KT’s eMTB Policy?
● Class 1 Pedal Assist eMTBs are allowed on Kingdom Trails for any rider, except where excluded per landowners’ request as shown on the map
https://www.kingdomtrails.org/trailmap
What class of eMTB can I ride at KT?
● You may only use a class 1 eMTB or electric assist aMTB. A Class 1 eMTB/ e-bike is defined as two wheeled cycles with fully operational pedals and an electric motor assist of no more than 750 watts (1 horsepower) and (i) are incapable of propelling the vehicle at a speed of more than twenty (20) miles per hour; and (ii) disengage or cease to function when the rider stops pedaling or the vehicle’s brakes are applied.
Endless Mountain Adventures response to committee questions.
Thanks for the response. To answer your questions (which are absolutely understandable!): 1. Yes, we carry a multi-million dollar event insurance policy. We can add additional entities, and we would be happy to do so if you would like to name anyone (the town, any other landowner associated with the trails, a bike club, etc.). I just need the name and associated address for anyone you wish us to cover. 2. Yes! This is a self-supported event by nature. Our participants are seasoned adventure athletes and travelers and know that they need to follow local rules and regulations (such as traffic patterns, private property, etc.) and that for a course this big, they may be on their own for a while before anyone can assist. They are required to carry certain safety items with them, we require at least one member of each team to have a minimum of Wilderness First Aid training, and they also carry satellite trackers that we monitor 24-7. Additionally, we publish specific safety concerns in their race book and conduct a thorough safety briefing ahead of time.
3. We do our best to notify all townships and as many relevant police departments and such as possible before the race. It sometimes helps us if local towns are able to send a note to the appropriate EMS parties since with 40ish towns and dozens of private entities, multiplying that out means it’s easy to lose some folks in the cracks. But yes, especially when in more developed/urban areas, we do take this step.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions!
