Medicinal Plants Walk–CANCELED

Posted on July 8, 2024July 12, 2024 By Hardwick Trails
Educational, Events

Join Miranda Resnick for a Medicinal Plants Walk on the Hardwick Trails this Saturday, July 13 at 9:00. Miranda describes this event:
“Wildcrafting herbs for food and medicine is gaining more and more popularity in the mainstream and can be a wonderful way to explore our relationship to nature and connect with our own bodies and spirits. On this slow-paced medicinal plant walk through the Hardwick Trails, we will weave together practical information about identification, medicinal uses, with a deepening of our connection to the plants in respectful and sustainable ways. We will not be harvesting herbs from the trails, but there will be some samples for tasting.”

All are welcome to this free event sponsored by The Hardwick Trails Committee. We meet at the Kiosk behind Hazen Union School. Questions? Norma Wiesen @ 472-6517.

SATURDAY BIRD WALK FINALE ON THE HARDWICK TRAILS

Birding, Events

The Every-Saturday-in-May Bird Walks on the Hardwick Trails’ finale is this Saturday (May 25) at 7:00am with Marie LaPre Grabon. Marie has truly “earned her wings” in birding and has enormous enthusiasm for helping folks hear and see these creatures. This past week has brought a crescendo of warblers to our area (along with many others), so we are in for a treat.

The highest total number of species on a single walk so far this season is 29. If you like competition, maybe you want to come and help make this final walk’s score even higher!

We meet at the Trails kiosk behind the Hazen Union parking lot.

The Hardwick Trails Committee sponsors these free events and welcomes seasoned and beginner birders of all ages. Questions? Call Norma Wiesen at 802-472-6517.

Adaptive Sports, Experiences

For the second consecutive year, Adaptive Sports Partners and the Hardwick Recreation Committee are joining forces to ensure that the trails of Hardwick remain open and accessible to all. Striving to eliminate barriers and promote inclusivity, the partnership is offering a series of free programming sessions tailored for athletes with disabilities. Every Monday throughout the summer, individuals of all abilities are invited to participate in biking, mountain biking, and hiking activities, fostering not only physical well-being but also a sense of community and belonging. The schedule is as follows: biking on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., mountain biking on Hazen Trails from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and hiking from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Come one, come all, is the resounding call as Adaptive Sports Partners extends a warm invitation to individuals with physical, developmental, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. With sessions scheduled every Monday, participants can embark on exhilarating biking adventures along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and the Hazen Trails, or opt for serene hikes amidst nature’s embrace. The inclusivity doesn’t end on the trails; Adaptive Sports Partners will also be present at the Hardwick Spring Fest, providing an opportunity for curious minds to explore adaptive equipment and engage with the team. To secure a spot or seek further information, prospective participants are encouraged to reach out to Program Manager Kerry Hussey at kerry@adaptivesportspartners.org or dial 802-427-4116. In the heart of Hardwick, a community united by the joy of sports and the spirit of inclusivity awaits.  Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to help support this program; we provide all training! Join us in making a difference in the lives of others.
