Come to this Saturday’s (May 17) Hardwick Trails Bird Walk at 7:00AM
for something special!!
The leaders of this walk, Eleanor Hammond and Scarlett Podolin, are the
new generation of birders. And these two know their stuff. It’s impossible
not to be infected by their enthusiasm and their joy in the feathered world.
Each of them has written a note below about their backgrounds.
My name is Eleanor. I am a homeschooled 7th grader. I love birds,
watching and learning about them. Watching birds is a life long learning
experience and a great way to spend time in the natural world. It is also an
opportunity to connect with other community members, to learn from each
other, and practice being present in the current moment.
My name is Scarlett. I love nature in all ways, from a little tadpole to a
golden eagle. I am a 5th grade homeschooler and I am outside observing
and learning about nature a lot. I love birds more than anything. I think
learning about birds is a great way to start spending more time outside and
grow awareness about our natural world. We are excited to go for a walk in
the woods with you to see what we can find and to share the magic of
seeing and hearing birds with the community.
