THIS SATURDAY! Sept. 28 @ 10:00am: ART on the HARDWICK TRAILS with SUSAN SAWYER

Come join Susan Sawyer, artist-teacher-naturalist extraordinaire, for “Drawing the Forest from the Inside”. Her easy good humor and eye for ‘looking closer’ make her events fun.

Participants will have a slow walk on the Trails with stops to sit and draw. Susan will offer drawing tips, encouragement and a discussion of natural history. Bring your sketchbook toolkit or use the supplies Susan will have on hand. A cushion and a water bottle are good ideas.

The Hardwick Trails Committee sponsors this free event and invites all ages and skills. We meet at the Hardwick Trails Kiosk behind Hazen Union School parking lot. Questions? Call Norma Wiesen at 472-6517. We will cancel in case of rain.

POSTPONED: Geology Walk on the Hardwick Trails
Educational, Events

Curious about what’s under our feet?

Did you know that Hardwick used to be the bottom of a glacial lake or that the bedrock of the Hardwick area was formed in a shallow, warm sea?

The ice sheet that once covered all New England may have melted away thousands of years ago, but there are still plenty of features and many clues that reveal the subsurface and glacial history of Hardwick.

Come join Dave Mitchell, retired science teacher and amateur geologist, while we explore Hardwick Trails.

The Hardwick Trails Committee sponsors this free event and welcomes everyone who’s ever wondered about our far distant past. The walk begins at the Kiosk behind Hazen Union School parking lot. Questions?

Call Norma Wiesen, 802-472-6517.

August 3: Nature Hunt for Kids on the Hardwick Trails
Events

Alicia Benoit-Clark, a long-time Hardwick Elementary teacher and nature lover, will lead a fun event for children on Saturday, August 3 at 10:00 on the Hardwick Trails.

This Nature Hunt for Kids is geared for children 5-12, with their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or friends! We’ll look for a variety of nature objects, including plants, animals, rocks, trees, colors found in the woods world and more. After collecting, we’ll share our observations and a snack. (Alicia will bring all the supplies needed.) Children should wear closed-toe shoes.

The Hardwick Trails Committee happily sponsors this free event. We will meet at the Kiosk behind Hazen Union School parking lot. Let’s see what we can find!
Questions? Call Norma Wiesen at 802-472-6517.
